Bumble Bee CookieCookies … Catering:

The Foodie Frolics’ Kitchen has been transformed into a Cookies and Cupcakes factory over the past two weeks. With a private birthday event to cater for, other foodie frolicking had to be put to the side (well except for gelato making and day in day out meal preparation.)

The ‘Bumble Bee’ theme set FF on a trip to Eminönü to gather the appropriate equipment. Then the challenge started, sugar cookie baking followed by royal icing decorating.

This is not a task for the faint-hearted, lots of hours and lots of technique required, but FF was up for the challenge.Cookie Borders

  1. Bake the cookies
  2. Pipe a royal icing border to hold the base colour.
  3. Flood the cookie with icing to meet your edges.
  4. Leave to dry for 24-48 hours.
  5. With a steady hand and lots of practise, pipe the bee decorations.
  6. Leave to dry another 24-48 hours.
  7. Package up in plastic bags with ribbon.

Hint: High humidity is not your friend so re-think your colours and prepare yourself for a real possibility of the colours bleeding together!
